Otavio holds a Civil Engineering degree, a master’s in systems engineering, and an MBA from the Darden Business School. These credentials underpin his ability to bridge the technical and business worlds.
He has presented to the European Commission on AI regulation matters and contributed insights to the Guardian, the Washington Post, WSJ, and Dark Reading. With a career spanning over 20 years, Otavio’s leadership has influenced businesses across multiple geographies and sectors.
Maritza Johnson PhD is the Founding Director of the Center for Civil Digital Society at the University of San Diego. She is working to establish a new type of relationship with data, one that epitomizes legibility, accountability and resilience. Before joining USD, Maritza was a User Experience Researcher at Google Research and a Technical Privacy Manager on Facebook’s Public Policy team. Her 2011 paper “The Failure of Online Social Network Privacy Settings” won the Future of Privacy Forum’s Privacy Papers for Policy Makers Award. Maritza received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from Columbia University and a B.A. degree from University of San Diego.
